5 Months!!

I cannot believe Jani is 5 months old!!! At this time last year, we were preparing to tell family we were pregnant. Now, we have a giggling, smiling, loving little girl who is lighting up our daily (and nightly) lives!!

Now Jani can...
Roll over
Smile
Giggle
Eat real food (even though it's pasty cereal) and
Play with her toys
GROWL! (this is her new favorite thing to do)

She still hates...
Having her nose picked
Being away from mommy and
When her clothes don't match

She loves...
Being naked
Eating
Taking baths (and now showers) and
Being outside

The photo shoot this time around got interesting...she did not want to sit still! She wanted to eat her sticker, eat the chair, eat her hand, eat her babylegs...are you sensing the pattern here? So here's what we got for a picture...

Babies Are Amazing

I came to a realization this week. Babies are truly amazing. I think it's easy to just see them as little beings who have no idea what's going on. They are far from this. Jani has proved that to me this week.

My grandma is in the hospital. She had major surgery and they found cancer. I am heartbroken and if you know me, you know that I wear my heart on my sleeve and cry...a lot. Taking care of a baby and being emotionally drained is hard. Somehow, though, Jani makes it easy. She senses something is wrong with me and wants to cuddle at all the right times, giggles when I need it, and showers me with love. She knows I need her.

Babies are intuitive...plain and simple. I think God knows just what he is doing....especially when He sent her to us.

With this amazing weather we've been having, Jani has been getting outside a lot. It's so fun to watch her face when she gets outside. Having been born in October it got cold so fast that she never experienced the great outdoors. Here are a few of her first excursions outside!

We took a little mini vacation with my family over the weekend to the waterpark in Dubuque. Jani loves bathtime and we were really excited to put her in the pool. She was a trooper!! She even went under the water! In all the chaos at the waterpark, she fell fast asleep in Grandma's arms. She had such a great time with everyone and we can't wait for family vacation this summer!!
